Wilsons Warrnambool & District Real Estate takes this opportunity to thank and congratulate the team at Silvan Ridge Financial Services for initiating and organising the phenomenal evening on Wednesday July 12th at the Wannon Rooms, raising funds and awareness for mental health. An increasingly important issue, to see the crowd of approximately 400 people captivated by the speakers Wayne Schwass, Jane Fitzgibbon and John Parkinson was amazing and a credit to everybody involved.
Wayne’s courageous story was informative, inspirational, enlightening, surprising, and his message was delivered with power, humour, clarity, and passion. Jane’s courage to tell her devastating story is amazing, and will no doubt help others and save lives.
‘Lets Talk’ is a community driven initiative that has arisen in response to the rising death toll by sucide in Victoria’s South West region. Rural areas have some of the highest risk. ‘Lets talk’ aims to-
1. Reduce the stigma of mental illness.
2. Encourage help seeking; and
3. Increase the competency of the whole community on how to ask the question where there are concerns.
Wednesday night’s function positively helped contributed to all three goals of ‘Let’s Talk’, and again, we congratulate all concerned and involved.
